Storybook Theater on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 at the Brooklyn Free Space.
Open to Pre-K and Kindergarten

ACT IN FRENCH

A playful program that allows children to learn and develop language through creative expression!

Têtes de l'Art will focus on introducing the language through images. The group will explore the work of French artists and through improvisation will recreate tableaus of their own inspired by these great works. Through physical games, music and song, and improvisation the children will be introduced to new vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. They will be exposed to the concepts of color, parts of the body, and emotions. They will also learn to greetings and introductions. At the end of the course there will be an open class sharing where parents will be invited to see a short performance in French prepared by the ensemble.

Intermediate-Advanced class (French-speakers)

Il était une fois will focus on the art of storytelling. The children will look at classic fairy tales and folk tales looking closely at characters and plots. They will explore different characters through guided theater games and improvisation. Through play they will search to find the voice and physicality of their characters. As the children develop characters and story, a text will be devised by the teaching artist. The children will learn text in French. They will work on their text holistically with an emphasis on connections to their bodies, voices, and imaginations.

Both classes will be led in French by Jade Hemsi and Kristen Lynch.

Classes begin April 17th and run through June 12th
