World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute, and is celebrated annually on March 27 by ITI Centers and the international theatre community. Various national and international theatre events are organized to celebrate the International Message and remarks from national cultural leaders.
The first World Theatre Day International Message was written by Jean Cocteau in 1962. This year ITI asked Dame Judi Dench to pen the International World Theatre Day Message.
You can find Dame Judi Dench's message here:

We want to bring this celebration to our community and so this year will mark the second annual Brooklyn World Theater Day. It will be a day for families to partake in theater workshops, experience live performance, and create art together. We hope to see you there.

Forum Theater/Theme:Bullying (1st grade and older)
Forum Theater was created by Brazilian director and political activist
Augusto Boal. Boal founded the Theater of the Oppressed.
Actors begin with a dramatic situation from everyday life and try to find
solutions. Audience members are urged to intervene by stopping the action,
coming on stage to replace actors, and enacting their own ideas. Bridging
the separation between actor (the one who acts) and spectator (the one who
observes but is not permitted to intervene in the theatrical situation),
the Theater of the Oppressed is practiced by "spect-actors" who have the
opportunity to both act and observe, and who engage in self-empowering
processes of dialogue that help foster critical thinking.
